David Scanes founded what was originally South West Drainage Services Ltd. He was instrumental in the creation of the business and was pivotal laying its groundwork.
The business broadened its operations by establishing a new office located in Wincanton, England. This expansion represents significant step forward for the company.
Joshua Scanes was officially appointed as the Operations Director, where he focuses on driving the business forward and contributing to its growth and success.
The business officially commenced offering its services in plant hire, providing equipment for various construction and landscaping needs.
The business changed its name to SWDS (Group) Ltd to more accurately represent the wide range of services we provide.

Dave established the company as South West Drainage Services Ltd in 2015 after years of experience in the industry, he created the company based on core values of reliability and round the clock service.

Initially catering only to the South West of England, growing demand prompted the expansion of services with engineers and projects nationwide.
Throughout the years, he has secured important contracts with notable companies like B&Q, Lidl & EG Group.
The office and field teams have expanded considerably, thanks to Dave's continuous pursuit of new opportunities and improvements, collaborating closely with his son Josh to maintain strong relationships with clients.

Operations Director
Josh has been involved in the industry from a young age, working alongside his father, Dave. In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, he joined the business and immediately got hands-on experience in the field.
After gaining valuable insights while working closely with the team, he transitioned into managing operations and collaborating with Dave.
By doing so, he acquired essential skills in business and finance, leading to Dave appointing him as a director in 2023 due to his proven management abilities and reliability.
Now, Josh works closely with our clients and management to ensure we deliver the best possible service efficiently and effectively.
